Toshiba AT200 hands-on

When one of the biggest selling points of a new tablet is that it's just eased into the lead for being the world's thinnest and lightest tablet, clamping it to a desk with some heavy cables ruins the effect a bit. At just 558g in weight and 7.7mm thick though, the Toshiba AT200's specs speak for themselves.

There's no iPad minimalism here – look at all those ports. The AT200 has a fair amount of big guns in this department: Micro USB, MicroSD, Micro HDMI and a docking port, not to mention Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Android Honeycomb 3.2, familiar to tablet fans by now, ran smoothly as we tried out some light browsing and a few apps, no doubt helped by the dual core 1.2Ghz processor that's on board. And that's even more impressive considering the Wi-Fi here at IFA is being tested to its limits.

We did manage to crash the AT200 when testing out the screen rotations, which could be quicker, and build-wise it's nothing new, so it might not be love at first sight but one glitch aside, this is a big improvement on the Toshiba tablets already out there.
