The PlayStation 4 might've had the stronger initial start, but the Xbox One has slowly but surely roared back and proved itself a great current-gen console. And what makes a console great? Games, of course.
True, the Xbox One maintains the legacy of its predecessor by being a great destination for shooters, but that's not all: we've got great racing, awesome action affairs, charming platform experiences, and more in the bunch. (And yes, shooters. No need to worry.)
Whether exclusive or just simply awesome on Xbox, here are our current picks for the 15 games you must play on Xbox One. Clear some hard drive space (or grab an external one) and enjoy.
Far Cry 4
The open-world adventure series arrives in the Himalayas for its fourth instalment - and the change of location very much suits it. The scenery is stunning, the flora and fauna typically diverse and the main story thread thoroughly engaging.
But Far Cry 4's biggest strength lies in the huge variety of side missions on offer and the way in which you could play for days (literally) without running out of things to do.
Forza Horizon 2
Forza Horizon 2 might just be the perfect driving game. It gives you a massive, fantastically detailed open-world setting in which to race, offers loads of different missions and objectives and captures the feeling of driving very fast better than any other game. What more could you want?
Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare
The most exciting Call of Duty in years? You betcha! By jumping some 50 years into the future, Advanced Warfare opens up no end of new possibilities for a series which was beginning to feel a little stale. There's plenty of exciting new tech, with the Titanfall-style exoskeleton giving you a multitude of new abilities and a load of futuristic weapons also adding to the feel of a franchise revitalised.
FIFA's critics will harp on yet again about how the 2015 version is just another minor update designed to fleece money out of already stretched pockets, but we suggest you ignore them and just enjoy what is comfortably the best football game on the planet.
The gameplay's undergone a substantial revision - it now plays faster and smoother than the sometimes a bit too realistic 2014 variant - while the animations and graphics have never looked better. Dozens of different modes, including the life-destroying Ultimate Team, ensure you'll keep playing until FIFA 16 arrives.
Grand Theft Auto V
Yes, we know, you already played Grand Theft Auto V on Xbox 360. Well don't let that put you off playing it again. Here are some reasons why you should give it a second twirl. 1) It's one of the greatest games of all time. 2) It looks even better than before (and it was already pretty damn good). 3) It has a new FPS mode - and it's genius. 4) It's one of the greatest games of all time.
