Sony touts new Z200iR and Z100iR all–in–one hi–fis

Sony's hi–fi department is clearly no fan of snappy names, as their new all–in–one hi–fi systems – the Z200iR and Z100iR

Sony’s hi–fi department is clearly no fan of snappy names, as their new all–in–one hi–fi systems – the Z200iR and Z100iR – clearly attest. But tough to grasp titles aside, these new micro machines are where it’s at if you’re after a system that’ll do the lot.

Akihibara News has got the scoop. The Z200iR is top of the pile, packing in Wi–Fi, which means you can snaffle tunes from your PC and also get stuck into some Argentine jazz or Uzbek folk thanks to internet radio being on board.

You can do all this via the chunky remote, which crams in a 3.5in screen, with a UI that’ll be familiar to Walkman fanatics. It’ll even let you scroll through tracks on your iPod and play them back via the dock.

There’s USB connectivity, two 20W speakers, a CD player with MP3 playback and an FM/AM radio if you’re that way inclined.

The Z100iR crams in the same goodness, but lacks the wireless internet gene. It’s due to hit this month, with the Z200iR coming in September. Prices remain scarce, so stay tuned for news as we get it.
