LG Optimus L9 revealed

Slimline 9.1mm thin dual-core Android smartphone is "for everyone," LG reckons

As IFA kicks off in Berlin, LG’s slipped out an announcement for its latest Android smartphone, the Optimus L9.

The Optimus L9 features a 1GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of DDR2 RAM powering a 4.7in IPS display, all packed into a 9.1mm-thin frame. Although it’s slimmed down, battery life shouldn’t suffer thanks to its 2,150mAh battery.

Round the back there’s a 5MP camera, while a VGA snapper sits on the front face for video calls. A mere 4GB of internal storage makes us hope the Optimus L9 is kitted out with a microSD slot, but LG’s keeping schtum for now.

The Optimus L9 will arrive running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, skinned with LG’s Optimus UI. That means you get the QTranslator app – a Google Goggles-style affair which lets you translate 44 foreign languages into 64 user languages by taking photos of text – plus a new customisable My Style Keyboard.

Other specs have yet to be revealed, but we’ll give you the full lowdown once we get our hands on it at IFA.
