December’s free Xbox games revealed

Got an Xbox Live Gold subscription? Good: in December, assuming you have an Xbox One, you’ll be able to download Thief and The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing free of charge via the Games with Gold promotion. Van Helsing will be available all month, while Thief pops up on 16 December and lasts until 15 January.

Actually, you’ll be able to grab three more games, as all the free Xbox 360 titles are also playable on Xbox One via the newly added backwards compatibility. Those games are CastleStorm, available from 1-15 December, and Sacred 3 and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, both up for free download from 16 December through the end of the month. If any of those sound appealing, be sure to clear some hard drive space before Tuesday rolls around.

Amazon passwords leak

According to ZDNet, Amazon has force-reset some users’ passwords that may have been compromised, although it’s not fully clear how the passwords were potentially exposed. Some users received the emails for both the U.S. and UK sites, with Amazon saying passwords "may have been improperly stored on your device or transmitted to Amazon in a way that could potentially expose it to a third party."

Amazon says it has "corrected the issue to prevent this exposure," and says the forced resets were done out of an "abundance of caution," rather than any evidence that passwords had reached unauthorized hands. Still, even if your password wasn’t affected, you might consider changing it to be safe – and maybe use two-factor authentication, which just hit the shopping site.

Fantastic Four 2 is probably canned

Fox tried to reboot comic film franchise Fantastic Four this summer, but it flopped hard, earning just $167 million worldwide on a production budget of $120 million. A sequel had long been on the calendar for 9 June 2017, but now it’s been pulled off the schedule, reports ComicBook.com.

There were rumblings of problems between Fox and director Josh Trank, besides the terrible reviews and middling box office, so it’s not all that much of a surprise. No word yet on if Fox will try to retool it once again, or maybe turn to Marvel Studios to try and reverse its fortunes – much like Sony did with Spider-Man.
