With Blu-ray seemingly causing more problems than it’s worth for Sony’s ill-fated PlayStation 3, Dell has decided to throw caution to the wind and start offering Blu-ray drives with its XPS M1710 gamer-pleasing laptops.Currently only available across the pond – but according to our sources, soon to hit British shores – the computing behemoth has decided that a 160GB hard disk just isn’t enough, and the dual layer BD-R burner, capable of creating 50GB discs is a necessary option.Elsewhere you’ll still get the same 2.33Ghz Core 2 Duo processor, 1-4GB of RAM and 512MB of dedicated graphics muscle that’ll let you run eye-candy heavy games such as Half Life 2 or Battlefield 2142.With a lack of Blu-ray components being blamed for PS3 delays in the UK, let’s hope that not too many of our stateside cousins want a hi-def disc packing lappy, or they could be waiting awhile.
