After tantalisingly being told release dates for Japan, the US and even Australia, we finally have a date for our diaries here in the UK.

The news is that Wii will be landing 8th December and will cost £180 – disappointingly higher than the US$250 our cousins across the water will be expected to pay.

In the box will be one Wii remote, one Nunchuk and a copy of Wii Sports. Other Nintendo titles available at launch include Wii Play (which comes with an extra Wii remote) and The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess. WarioWare: Smooth Moves shouldn’t be far behind.

Around 15 to 20 other titles costing £35-£40 are predicted to be ready by launch, including:

Cars

Need For Speed: Carbon

Rayman: Raving Rabbids

Red Steel

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz

Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam.
