Glowing Galaxies are phosphorescent 3D deep space artworks that glow in the dark

The best night light you'll ever own

Remember those tacky glow-in-the-dark stars you used to have stuck to your bedroom ceiling – and which you secretly wish you could still have in adulthood? Glowing Galaxies (from US$90) – already funded on Kickstarter – is a proper grown-up version. Cathrin Machin has spent thousands of hours hand-painting the universe (key bits – not all of it), and the result is a series of out-of-this-world limited-edition prints. They have a 3D surface, so you can feel the texture of the brush strokes, but the important bit is the use of an industrial-strength phosphorescent pigment. One of the brightest around, it’ll suck in light during the day, and bathe your room in an eerie green glow overnight. Probably don’t nail a canvas to the ceiling, though.
