There are epic presentations at CES 2014 that’ll leave you speechless. And there’s also absolute fails that’ll leave you equally dumbfounded. Michael Bay found that out, the painful way.
Hours ago, the director for the upcoming fourth Transformers live-action film was invited on stage to talk about Samsung’s curved TVs. Things got off to a good start, but in less than 30 seconds, all hell broke loose.
From the audience’s perspective, the banter between Bay and Samsung’s executive vice president seemed even more unnatural than most presentations look. Things went downhill when Bay commented the teleprompt is off, and tried to wing it, but he did not manage to survive beyond two prompts before he left the stage.
Bay's swift exit came immediately after he was asked to explain how curved screens will revolutionise the way people watch movies. Well Michael, we're not quite sure either – you have our sympathies.
Later, the director’s blog was updated with a statement, and did not hide his embarrassment at the meltdown. The post clarified that he skipped his co-host’s intro line, causing confusion to the teleprompter.
Well, we definitely agree with Mr Bay - stick to making things explode on screen, live shows just aren’t his thing.
