The Q1 went down like a fart in a sleeping bag but we think Samsung might have cracked it this time. Now dubbed the Q1 Ultra UMPC (so that’s Ultra, Ultra-Mobile PC), it’s given the ill-fated original a thorough makeover with new hardware and, most importantly, a mini keypad. And it’s not just some dodgy add-on either – it’s a proper QWERTY lay out, arranged across either side of the 1024×600 resolution 7in display. The joystick has also been commandeered as a mouse pointer, so no need to go jabbing at the screen with a stubby finger any more.Sporting ultra low voltage Intel processors, Vista Home Premium, 1GB of RAM and a 60GB hard drive, we think Samsung might finally be on to something here.Just one slight niggle over battery life; Sammy’s only claiming 3.5 hours of usage with the bundled cells. Guess we’ll just have to work quicker between charges.
