Galaxy S26 will support AirDrop via Quick Share, Samsung has confirmed.

Samsung has confirmed the newly-released Galaxy S26 series smartphones will soon support easier sharing with Apple’s AirDrop via the integration with Google Quick Share.

Currently, the feature is available on Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 phones – the most recent in the series. However, it’s about to get a lot easier for typically-polarised shoppers of Samsung and Apple devices to share files, videos, and photos.

It was expected that Samsung would offer support for AirDrop vs Quick Share when the Galaxy S26 series was revealed last month. However, it’s not far away according to the main man behind the mobile experience business at Samsung.

Korea-based industry site EBN quotes Choi Win-Jon as saying: “We will support Airdrop compatibility from the Galaxy S26 series,” and “it will be provided sequentially through software updates in the future.”

That suggests the Galaxy S26 series will just be the beginning, with other recent Galaxy phones also gaining the functionality in the future.

In November, Google announced the feature, which is the latest means of closing the compatibility gap between iPhone and Android handsets, which has included RCS messaging and a collaboration with Apple on the Find My Device network. The company didn’t say whether it had worked with Apple directly on AirDrop, but users are sure to benefit.

“We built this with security at its core, protecting your data with strong safeguards that were tested by independent security experts,” Google said in a blog post. “It’s just one more way we’re bringing better compatibility that people are asking for between operating systems, following our work on RCS and unknown tracker alerts.”

Back in November we said we’ll keep you posted when the feature landed on third-party devices. Well, folks, we’re almost there.
