Beats and Nike team up for a very special edition of the Powerbeats Pro 2

Two of sport's most iconic brands have finally united on a single product – and I'm a big fan of the results

Beats x Nike being worn by Lebron James

Beats and Nike have announced their first joint hardware product: the Powerbeats Pro 2 Nike Special Edition. It’s a big deal – two of the most iconic names in sport and culture finally sharing the same earbud.

The Nike Swoosh sits on the right bud, while the Beats “b” lives on the left. It looks really cool, and, honestly, I’m surprised it took this long.

The earbuds come in Nike’s signature ‘Volt’ colour palette with a matte black, speckled charging case. Open the lid and you’re greeted by Nike’s “Just do it” printed inside.

Under the hood, the specs are the same as the standard Powerbeats Pro 2: adaptive active noise cancellation, transparency mode, built-in heart rate monitoring, and up to 45 hours of battery life.

The wrap-around earhooks, Beats’ signature design, keep everything locked in place, whether you’re lifting or running a marathon (we recently listed it in a guide to the workout tech we actually use).

The heart rate monitoring is arguably the standout feature. It syncs directly with Apple’s Fitness app and Nike Run Club, making these earbuds a genuine training tool rather than just a stylish accessory.

Beats x Nike on golf balls

To launch the collaboration, Beats enlisted LeBron James for a campaign called ‘Keep Your Head in the Game.’ James plays golf (badly) while being heckled by pro golfer Tom Kim and actors Lionel Boyce and Travis “Taco” Bennett.

James has been wearing Beats, stretching back to the original Powerbeats. Of the new Nike collab, he said, “These aren’t just my go-to earbuds — they’re built for anyone who refuses to compromise on performance.”

Beats CMO Chris Thorne described the collaboration as “a collision of two brands that define performance, culture, and sports.”

It would pair perfectly with the Nike Edition of the Apple Watch.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 Nike Special Edition launches on Friday, March 20, priced at US$249.99 / £249.99.

They’ll be available from Apple and Nike, as well as select Apple Store locations in the US, UK, China, and Europe.
