How to watch the F1 Australian Grand Prix in the United States – stream the race live
The Apple TV F1 era starts this weekend in the USA. Practice, qualifying and the race itself is all streaming live on Apple TV
How to watch the Australian Grand Prix: The F1 season is upon us and, in the United States, there’s a whole new way to live stream the races this year. Here’s how you can watch and enjoy the Formula 1 action from down under this weekend.
You may be used to seeing F1 on Apple TV, but that’s the movie. This time it’s the real thing. Apple TV agreed a historic deal to broadcast Formula 1 in the United States from the start of the 2026 racing season. And that, my friends, begins right now.
The Australian Grand Prix from Melbourne is the first race of the season, which means a late night for east coast viewers in the US tuning in live to the qualifying sessions and the races. Viewers will be able to watch all practice, qualifying and sprint sessions along with the races, starting on Saturday March 7 and stream live on Apple TV.
In the UK, the existing agreement with Sky Sports continues. Everything stays the same.
What time do the Australian Grand Prix events start this weekend?
Qualifying is already underway. The first two practice sessions took place on Friday.
- Friday March 6: Coverage of practice 3 starts at 8:10pm ET / 5:10pm PT
- Friday March 6: Coverage of Qualifying starts at 11:25pm ET / 8:25pm PT
- Saturday March 7: Coverage of the Australian Grand Prix starts at 10:50pm ET / 7:50pm PT
Do I need an Apple TV subscription?
Yes, Formula 1 coverage is available to all Apple TV subscribers in the United States without the need for an add-on. Apple has previously used add-ons for its MLS Season Pass, but has dropped that this season.
If you haven’t signed up for Apple TV yet, it costs $12.99 a month and you can cancel at any time. You can sign up here.
There are options to get a three month free trial to Apple TV if you have recently purchased an Apple device and redeem the offer within 90 days. Keep an eye out for other promotions too.
Can I watch the Australian Grand Prix on Netflix?
No. Apple has made a deal with Netflix to share some of their F1 rights, but that doesn’t apply to the Australian Grand Prix. Netflix subscribers will be able to enjoy the Canadian Grand Prix in May, which Apple TV will simulcast.
