Google Maps does Live Tube updates ahead of London 2012
Planning to visit the UK for the 2012 Olympics? Then you’ll be wanting to get around its capital on the world famous London Underground, renowned for its pioneering history, simple graphical map and temperamental service.
In view of the latter, Google has seen fit to incorporate live Tube data into its Maps, allowing you to see if your train’s running on time before you’ve spent 10 minutes riding a series of escalators into London’s underbelly.
There are also details on Google’s Lat Long blog of planned engineering works and a journey planner that may look familiar to anyone who’s used Transport for London’s website to plan a trip around the capital.
It’s good news for Londoners, as well as visitors to this summer’s London Olympics. Around a billion people use the London Underground each year.
