Japan Display claims its 3840 x 2160 LCD won’t empty batteries any quicker than “normal” HD screens
If you’re hoping to see a 4K 10in tablet soon, you should be very excited about Japan Display’s new screen technology.
The company has announced a new 10.1in screen with a 3840 x 2160 resolution which it claims does not drain battery life any faster than a regular, non-4K display. That makes it feasible for use with existing mobile battery technology.
Twice as sharp as an iPad Air
The screen boasts a pixel density of 438ppi, which is almost double the amount of pixels per inch offered by the iPad Air’s Retina display.
Currently, 4K resolutions have been largely restricted to televisions, monitors and home cinema projectors – all products which are kept plugged into a constant power source. If Japan Display’s claims turn out to be true, their screen could usher in a new generation of ultra HD tablets.
