If the iPad 4 takes Microsoft Surface cues it could look like this

When the Microsoft Surface came out, sporting a keyboard like the Asus Transformer Prime, we did think Apple was starting to fall behind. Designer Luis Fonseca thought the same and came up with this iPad 4 concept.

The keyboard slides out from the aluminium case of the 7 or 8in iPad. And it comes packing Bang & Olufsen speakers, a 12MP, 1080p camera, a quad core processor and a portable hard drive. We love this design because it’s not only a reasonable jump forward for the iPad but it captures well the trend of tablets starting to merge with laptops to create one mobile gadget to rule them all.

You don't have to imagine an iPad that works like MS's Surface, it has existed since the beginning!

The original iPad had a "Smart Cover" that can act like a kick stand in both keyboard-like angle and propped up for media viewing. iPads are also compatible with BlueTooth keyboards. If fact, a keyboard dock was one of the original accessories for the original iPad. Styluses are also available from third parties.
