Sony’s Alpha A77 and A65 break burst shooting records

If photography was a horse race, you could do worse than scribble the names of Sony’s two new APS-C translucent mirror cameras on your betting slip. The company claims its Alpha SLT-A77 and Alpha SLT-A65 are “the quickest, most responsive interchangeable lens cameras in their class.”

The A77 steps into the shoes of the A700 (reviewed here), adding 12fps burst shooting at 24.3MP and 19-point autofocus. The A65 is footsteps behind, at 10fps, while both cameras shoot to Sony’s freshly forged Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor.

Sony’s new translucent mirror show ponies are also saddled with full HD video capture and super crisp OLED electronic viewfinders. The A77 and A65 are compatible with existing A-mount lenses, including a new DT 16-50mm F2.8 zoom.

The pair are racing towards an October launch, with pricing to follow nearer the time.
