Grand Theft Auto V release date revealed

GTA V gets a release date – yay! – but it's later than expected. Boo!

Grand Theft Auto V has a release date. That’s the good news. The bad news is it’s not coming in Spring 2013, as previously promised – you’ll have to wait until September 17th.

Perhaps the guys at Rockstar are giving you a chance to actually leave your house and catch some rays over the summer before hitting the roads of Los Santos. Or it could be that they’re testing the living daylights out of a game so big it makes all that’s gone before look like a GameBoy cartridge.

Either way we’re happy to wait for the chance to fly jets, swim with sharks, rappel down buildings, and generally cause mayhem in high-speed cars. But don’t pre-order just yet – the best deals, with all the extra DLC, are likely still to come.

In the meantime, check out the GTA V screenshots and trailer, and weep softly to yourself at the thought of several extra months of waiting.
