Apple to axe Messages on OS X Lion from December 14th

Apple has informed customers that its Messages Beta program for OS X Lion will be terminated on December 14th.
Apple fans who want to carry on using the Messages service will have to fork out £14 for the OS X Mountain Lion upgrade from the App Store, although those with Macs too old to run it will be left in an iMessaging lurch.
Head on over to the App Store if you fancy upgrading or add a new Mac to your list to Santa if you feel like something new and shiny this Christmas.

I have mountain lion. However the imessage service is fraught with bugs. When I first read your headline. I thought they were ditching it all together. My first thought was that I was not surprised, given its problems. We are witnessing the demise of Apple.
