New Apple patent adds fuel to the Apple iTV fire

Apple has filed a patent for a high refresh rate S-IPS LCD which features something called fringe field switching (FFS) technology, which it clearly states is suitable for use in a television, patentlyapple reports.

FFS (not to be confused with an expletive acronym) results in screens with a high refresh rate without limiting the aperture of individual pixels, resulting in improved colour gamuts with high lumosity. Translation? A brighter screen with more accurate colour reproduction.

Previously FFS technology has only been available in smaller screen sizes, but Apple's patents indicate 40in and above screens. If that doesn't suggest an Apple iTV then we don't know what does.
