HTC One will sink its teeth into Android 4.4 KitKat in January

Owners of HTC's metal flagship can look forward to starting the year off with Google's latest and greatest OS

If you’re a proud HTC One owner then you’ll be able to inject it with Android 4.4 KitKat at the end of January next year.

HTC made the announcement on Twitter, confirming that the latest version of Android – which launched on the Google Nexus 5 – will be landing on the One along with its bag of tricks and improvements.

HTC Sense 5.5 will also be on the menu, though we’re not yet sure if unlocked phones will receive the update any sooner.

HTC did however previously tell CNET that owners of the Google Play edition of the One will be able to upgrade their handsets from the end of November.
