Pentax evolves its Optios

We were wondering how Pentax was going to top last year’s Optio A20. Already equipped with a potent cocktail of this year’s must have features: a 10MP sensor, 2.5in LCD, mechanical anti-shake and auto face recognition (not forgetting the DivX movie mode), what was there left to add?Seems we now have the answer: it’s going to keep all the same features, and give them a tweak. So now rebadged as the A30 (pictured), the tiny perennial favourite gets a new stylish black case and improved anti-shake gyros pinched from its digital SLRs.The LCD display stays the same size but now boasts higher intensity colour and is easier on the eye when in direct sunlight in the great outdoors (chance would be a fine thing).Meanwhile Pentax has also brought out another camera with only 7MP but with the one feature it chose to omit from the A series – the waterproof W30. Guess you can’t have everything.

Pentax Optio W30, A30 Price: £190, £200 On sale: March Contact: Pentax Related stories: Pentax parachutes in to 10MP club
