Leap Motion release date revealed

The ultra-accurate hand-tracking control system will be on sale 13th May

If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on (or should that be “hands in front of”?) Leap Motion, you now have a date to circle in the calendar: 13th May 2013.

The hand-tracking control system (which is 100 times more accurate than Kinect) will start going out to customers on that day, and you can pre-order it over at the Leap Motion site from today. The cost? US$80 plus shipping (and yes, they’ll send it to the UK).

It’s also emerged that Leap will open the doors of a virtual app store on launch day. Called Airspace, it will feature software optimised for the Leap Motion controller from companies such as Corel, Disney, Double Fine Studios and the Weather Channel.
