Xiaomi 17T Pro leaves rivals for dust with an epic two-day battery life

Xiaomi 17T Pro boasts an epic 7000 mAh battery inside its sub-flagship body

A refreshed Xiaomi 17T Pro smartphone has arrived alongside the more basic 17T to sit underneath the Xiaomi 17 which we liked a lot.

Both of the new models are core spec-focused sub-flagships using MediaTek Dimensity hardware, with the Xiaomi 17T Pro starting from £799/€899. Essentially the T series phones have upgraded on screen size and battery life while having less good camera specs.

The key point of interest is the battery size – while the 17T has a 6500 mAh unit, the 17T Pro has a humongous 7000 mAh battery. I’ll be bringing you a full Xiaomi 17T Pro review tomorrow, but it’s not much of a giveaway to suggest that the phone managed to easy get through a couple of days of use. It’s also rather appealing that charging speeds are set at 100W wired and 50W wireless, so you’ll have no problem re-juicing after you have finally used all that battery up.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 in the 17T Pro is also rather performant, teamed as it is with 12GB of memory. There’s also a 6.83in display with 144Hz refresh rate. The camera setup has a 50 megapixel main sensor, 12 megapixel ultrawide and 5x telephoto. There’s also a 32 megapixel selfie camera, too.

The 17T Pro (a little bit of a mouthful) is available in three colour options: Deep Blue, Deep Violet, and Black.

The £649/€749 and up 17T comes in two storage variants and is available in more color options: Violet, Opal White, Blue, and Black. It has a very similar camera system to the 17T Pro and is based on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 rather than the 9500 in the 17T Pro.

Both phones will be available across Europe rather than the US. While Xiaomi has produced phones with bigger batteries in the past, these have been China-focused rather than being available in Europe. Could this launch signal the beginning of a new generation of phones with bigger batteries? Here’s hoping…
