The G-Shock x Joshua Vides Collection – G-Shock’s latest hype watch is available now
Two years in the making, two watches worth owning – the G-SHOCK x Joshua Vides collection is the most wearable art drop of the year
G-Shock has launched a limited-edition collaboration with graphic artist Joshua Vides and it might be one of the best G-Shock watches yet. The collection features two watches that bring his distinctive hand-drawn aesthetic to two classic G-Shock silhouettes.
The partnership produces two striking models: the DW-5600JV-7 and the DW-6900JV-1. Both are available now.
Vides is known for his “Reality to Idea” concept, a style that blurs the line between illustration and real life. His visual language is rooted in comics and two-dimensional art, and that influence is all over these watches.
Both models use a stark black-and-white palette. Multi-angle printing techniques make the watches look like three-dimensional sketches – flat drawings somehow brought to life on your wrist.

The DW-5600JV-7 comes in gloss white with bold black accents across the band, case and dial. It genuinely looks like someone has drawn on paper. The DW-6900JV-1 flips the script with a matte black finish and white stripes that follow the watch’s contours.
The details are impressive. Handwritten function labels ring the dial. Vides’ signature traffic cone is hidden in the LED backlight display. A custom case back bears his signature. Both watches ship in branded packaging, making them feel like proper collectibles from the moment you open the box.
Both are every bit the G-Shock you’d expect underneath. They offer shock resistance, 200-metre water resistance, a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm and LED backlight.
Vides himself has called the project a labour of love. “Almost two years in the work,” he said, “I’m proud to ultimately showcase the final product in my backyard, Los Angeles.”

Both versions are excellent, though, for me, the white DW-5600JV-7 is the standout. The gloss finish and black line work really do look like ink on paper. It is the more visually arresting of the two.
It reminds me of the recent Origami and Manga series, which were both massively popular.
The G-Shock x Joshua Vides collection is available now, priced at US$180 / £139 for both models.
