G-Shock launches new Mudmaster GG-B100XM and tested it in one of my favourite places in the world
G-Shock took its toughest watch yet to one of Scotland's most brutal mountains
G-Shock has unveiled two new additions to its Master of G collection: the Mudmaster GG-B100XM-1A and GG-B100XMB-1A, which are built for military and alpine environments where gear cannot afford to fail.
Naturally, being G-Shocks, both watches are shock, dust, and mud-resistant. What sets them apart from previous Mudmaster models is a new stainless steel bezel, shaped through complex forging techniques.
To put the watches through their paces, G-Shock headed to the North Face of Ben Nevis. Olympic ice climber Willis Morris wore the GG-B100XM-1A on the ascent, partnered with British alpine brand Jöttnar. Ben Nevis in raw Scottish winter is one of the most unforgiving places I know. There is nowhere better to find out if gear actually works.

The two models differ in their bezel finish. The GG-B100XM-1A has a silver-coloured bezel with a matte finish that reduces light reflection – suited to tactical and military use. The GG-B100XMB-1A features a black ion-plated bezel with mirror polishing, offering high scratch resistance with a cleaner look.
Both share the same core construction. A carbon fibre-reinforced resin case protects the module. Heavy-duty gaskets seal every button, keeping out mud and dust in brutal conditions.
Inside, a Quad Sensor handles the hard work. A triple sensor measures compass bearing, altitude, barometric pressure, and temperature. An accelerometer adds step counting. Together, they help wearers monitor changing weather and track activity in the field.
Bluetooth connectivity links the watch to a smartphone via the G-Shock app. Users can sync time globally and log mission data with ease.

G-Shock has also used bio-based resins in the case, band, and case back. A Super Illuminator, a high-brightness auto double LED, ensures the dial is readable in complete darkness.
The GG-B100XM-1A and GG-B100XMB-1A are available now from G-Shock stores and on G-Shock’s website. Both are priced at £369 (US pricing TBC).
