BT – two thirds of UK premises to have fibre optic broadband by 2014

BT has announced that two thirds of UK premises will have access to fibre optic broadband by 2014 – one year ahead of its previous target, thanks to a cool £300 million cash injection and an extra 520 new engineers.
The news will come as a relief for gadgeteers still stuck with copper wire broadband which can be slow and temperamental, depending on exchange distances.
Here’s to a bright future where tech-heads can gorge themselves on gigabytes of data to their hearts' (and hard drives') content.
