Stuff Office Cat’s Diary 29/10/12
ITV Player gets a spruce up
Ah, ITV Player. Forever mired in the shadow of its slicker, classier and less trashy cousin BBC iPlayer. Still, Office Cat can’t blame it for trying to improve itself, which it’s doing by launching a beta version of its next form. Now it offers access to a pretty impressive range of archive material like Cracker, Brideshead Revisited, Prime Suspect and Cold Feet. You’ll have to pay for them, mind.
Hue won’t believe your eyes
Philips has released Hue, a programmable LED bulb able to display almost any colour in the spectrum. There are even 90 shades of white (isn’t that a book the females of your species seem especially interested in?). An iOS app allows you to set the colour whether you’re at home or out and about, and up to 50 bulbs can be hooked up to your router via a bridge controller. They’ll be sold in Apple Stores exclusively in $199 (£125) kits, featuring three bulbs and the bridge.

Pen is envy
Office Cat is intrigued by the Livescribe Sky, the third generation of the pen that records your voice. This one automatically syncs your notes to the cloud via Evernote, and comes in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB versions.
