His acting credentials are rivalled only by the enviable number of followers he has on Twitter. Now Ashton Kutcher has landed the lead role in a forthcoming Steve Jobs biopic.

According to Variety, the indie film – which will be directed by Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote) – will “chronicle Steve Jobs from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple, where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time.”

The Ashton Kutcher-led movie, called simply Jobs, will be hoping to repeat some of the success of 2010’s The Social Network, in which Jesse Eisenberg played Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

But the Apple founder’s story will be told more than once with Sony also in the picture, hoping to make a screen adaptation of Walter Isaacson’s bestselling Steve Jobs biography.
