windows 8 rumour mill could be out in october

Microsoft will reportedly finish Windows 8 this summer with an October released date in mind for its new OS, according to Bloomberg.

The first set of PCs and tablet devices running Windows 8 will include both Intel and ARM-powered offerings, although the initial smattering of five ARM devices will be greatly outnumbered by the forty or so Intel ones.

If true, it looks like Microsoft is preparing to step up against the new Apple iPad 3 (reviewed here) in the Christmas shopping wars with its army of assorted Window 8 tablets, which should lead to some interesting battles in the tablet review arena.
