Canon debuts EOS 600D and 1100D
Tired of those pesky Micro Four Thirds snappers stealing the limelight, Canon's EOS clan has debuted two upgrades to its popular entry-level models – the 600D and 1100D.
Much like Sony's NEX-5, both models introduce handy on-screen guides, with explanations of lingo like 'Aperture Priority' for those who don't know their F-stops from their flash. Beginners will also be pleased to see a fully-automatic Scene Intelligent mode.
As the EOS range's new leader, the 600D features an 18MP CMOS sensor, Full HD video recording and vari-angle screen that you can twist to help with 'over the crowd' shots.
If that's too much for your camera skills and wallet, the 1100D packs a 12.2MP CMOS sensor and 720p HD video shooting.
Both snappers will be available from early April, the 600D for £680 (body only) and the 100D for £419 (body only). We'll bring you full tests very soon.

I've used a 500D and it's fantastic. I will upgrading to the 600D, or maybe even the 60D, depending on how good the friendship between me and my bank balance is.

For digital photography novices there is nothing my reassuring about spending money on a pro-sumer camera than the security of a reliable auto function that will allow you to get those important shots exposed correctly while still having the ability to play around with speed and apeture yourself as you learn how to operate the manual functions of the camera.
