Aviatore Veloce Superjet 100 coffee machine is a sight for soar eyes

A plane striking way to get your day off to a flyer

Is it really a coffee machine? Or is it a gun from Fallout 4?

Trust me, despite the Aviatore Veloce Superjet 100’s “golden age of aviation” vibes, it really just makes a cup o’ joe in the morning. No launching of Exocet missiles, no scything through the azure skies.

That’s a bit disappointing. But on the plus side, it’s certainly the zaniest espresso maker I’ve ever clapped eyes on. What’s the point of that jet engine?

The turbine doesn’t, we suspect, produce the airflow to push that superheated water through your scoop of freshly ground Colombian – it’s merely for show (so don’t worry about a birdstrike ruining your ristretto). Because this thing is a piece of artwork or sculpture first and foremost. It just so happens that it’s a coffee machine too.

What’s it made of?

Well, you’ll need to be made of money to get your mitts on one, but this thing takes its airplane influences seriously. It’s totally constructed from aircraft-grade aluminium alloy, stainless steel and aluminium bronze.

And don’t forget to make sure you’ve got a bit of spare space on the kitchen worktop, because this thing is big: 78cm long and almost 50cm high. Oh, and it weighs the small matter of 28kg, about as much as an 11-year-old boy.

Where do I get it?

Only 100 of these are being built, and the price is available upon request. And you know what they say about the affordability of something if you have to enquire about its price…
