New Mac Pro quietly muscles up

As if to prove that being big doesn’t mean you can’t be invisible, Apple’s Mac Pro escaped any mention at the company’s WWDC keynote, where its new MacBook Pro with Retina Display was the hero of the show.

Yet despite standing in the shadows of WWDC, the Mac Pro did get a spec lift, courtesy of some new component configurations (the case remains the same). The base model with a 3.2GHz quad-core Intel Xeon brains and 6GB RAM now starts at £2050, while a 12-core (2 x 2.4GHz six-core Xeon, 12GB RAM) model will set you back £3100. Both have a 1TB drive and there’s also a quad core server edition for £2450.
