British-based Kazam's new 5.5in £200 octa-core phablet could be the smartphone deal of the century

Eight cores for less than the price of a Nexus 5? Our wallet's ears just pricked up

British-based Kazam has taken once step further to fulfilling its ambition of offering the best spec to price ratio around  by revealing two new devices at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The high-end Tornado 2 5.5 boasts a 1.7GHz MediaTek octa-core processor along with a 5.5in full HD display, 13MP camera, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage, along with a 2500mAh battery.

UPDATE: We just went hands on with the Tornado 2 5.0 back in London.

Two Tornado 2s

While it's not running the latest version of Android, 4.4 KitKat, it has a dual SIM card slot which will let you use one regular and one micro SIM simultaneously.

Kazam also revealed the Tornado 2 5 which features the same octa-core innards but has a 5in 720p screen, 1GB of RAM and an 8GB camera.

Kazam is looking to retail the Tornado 2 5.5 for £200, which is insanely low given that the Nexus 5 (considered to be one of the best bargains around) is £300.

Not only that, but if you break the screen in the first year of purchase, Kazam will sort it out, free of charge.

It's customer service representatives can also remotely take over your device to help you with any problems, a feature Amazon has already implemented in the Kindle Fire HDX.

We're hoping to put the Tornado 2 5.5 through its paces in a full in-depth review, so stay tuned to see if its price and specs reall are as good as they appear.
