You’ve been framed – in HD

Plugging a Hi-8 camcorder into your lovely new 42-inch HD plasma is like filling your Ferrari with one-star petrol. We don't have a Ferrari or a 42-in

Plugging a Hi-8 camcorder into your lovely new 42-inch HD plasma is like filling your Ferrari with one-star petrol. We don’t have a Ferrari or a 42-inch plasma but we still want one of these. It’s Sony’s new high-definition Handymam, which has 1080i HD pictures worthy of the finest home-cinema set-ups. Imaginatively called the HDR-FX7E, it captures full 16:9 HD footage onto standard MiniDV tapes while being 40 percent smaller than the FX1. The picture’s further enhanced by Sony’s new ClearVid CMOS sensor system with Enhanced Imaging Processor. With a 20x zoom Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens finishing off the package, it might just be worth remortgaging the house for.
