Sony Ericsson brings movies to PlayNow arena

Not content with outing three new phones last night, Sony Ericsson also let us in on another little something it's been keeping up its sleeve.PlayNow

PlayNow arena with movies will – surprise surprise – add a bundled movie service from Sony Ericsson on selected handsets, and will debut on the W995 Walkman phone due out next month.

Users will be able to watch up to 60 movies a year on their mobile phone, with a choice of 15 at any one time. Once downloaded, they will be able to be viewed as often as you like for up to 90 days.

The service will work by getting mobile movie fans to download the movie of their choice to their PC from the PlayNow website, and then transfer them onto their phone.

As the files are specially formatted, they will only work on compatible Sony Ericsson devices, so you can forget sneaking any movie content on to your favourite PMP.

Look out for the PlayNow arena with movies on the W995 next month and expect to see it on most of its future high end handsets. Let us know what you think to the new service below.
