Nokia Note-style tablet phone incoming?

Nokia's gunning for the Galaxy Note, with a super-sized hybrid Windows Phone in the works

Nokia will be releasing hybrid smartphones soon that could mean the first tablet/mobile Windows Phone handsets ever.

Nokia Chairman Jorma Ollila, told the Financial Times that the Finnish phone company is planning to branch into tablets and hybrid phones, stating that, “Tablets are an important one, so that is being looked into, and there will be different hybrids, different form factors in the future.”

We’ve already heard rumours of a Nokia Windows 8 tablet, and with Samsung recently overtaking Nokia as the biggest mobile seller, it’s likely a competition on all platform sizes is inevitable.

So Samsung’s trend-setting 5in Galaxy Note may have some Nokia Windows Phone competition soon. And with Metro UI tipped to impress, Samsung may need to start worrying.
