Olympus announces the PEN E-P5

Olympus outs its latest super-fast retro-styled shooter for shutterbugs to drool over

Olympus has revealed the latest addition to its Micro Four Thirds family, the previously leaked PEN E-P5.

Beneath the eye-catching retro styling of the PEN E-P5 lies the same lightning-fast auto focus of the stunning OM-D E-M5 as well as a 16.1MP Live MOS sensor.

The PEN E-P5 also packs in Wi-Fi, but doesn’t share the same NFC skills as the Panasonic GF6. It can, however, display a QR code for easy setup between Olympus’ OI.share app on your Android or iOS device. Once connected, you can take shots remotely via the app with iAuto mode and add GPS data to your shots as well as share your perfectly framed masterpieces.

While the E-P5 also rocks the same excellent image stabilisation system as the OM-D E-M5, it lacks its weather proofing and built-in viewfinder – you’ll have to snap one up separately if you want to go eyes-on. 1080p/30p video should also look good on the E-P5’s 3in 1.04 million dot tiltable display.

The Olympus PEN E-P5 can be yours at the end of June for £900 (body only) or £1350 (with 17mm f1.8 prime lens and electronic viewfinder).
