Charles Darwin x G-Shock is the watch collaboration I didn’t know I needed

A tough, solar-powered G-Shock inspired by Galápagos wildlife – yes please!

G-Shock has done some wild collaborations over the years, but this one really caught me off guard… in the best way. The new Galápagos x G-Shock watch collection, made in partnership with the Charles Darwin Foundation, celebrates the wildlife of the Galápagos Islands with two tough, solar-powered watches that look as bold as the creatures that inspired them.

There’s the GA-B2100DF-1A, themed around the majestic Galápagos Albatross, and the GA-B2100DF-4A, modelled after the bright Sally Lightfoot Crab.

Both pack Bluetooth connectivity, solar charging, 200m water resistance, and G-Shock’s classic Carbon Core Guard structure, so they’re built for a proper Charles Darwin-level adventure.

The case, bezel and strap are made from bio-based resin, which feels fitting given the focus on conservation. Even the packaging is plastic-free.

Flip either watch over and you’ll find the Charles Darwin Foundation logo engraved on the case back, plus a subtle nod to the cause printed on the strap: “Apoyo la conservación de Galápagos”, which means, “I support Galápagos conservation.” It’s a small touch, but one that reminds you of the whole project’s real purpose every time you put the watch on.

I really like both models; the black Albatross model is sleek and more understated, but that fiery crab design has the edge for me. The vivid orange and red case pops, and the tiny crab illustration on the dial is just fun.

It’s not often a collab feels meaningful and cool, but I think this one manages both. A proper celebration of nature, adventure and tough watches.

The Galápagos x G-Shock collection is available now, priced at £159 in the UK (approx US$210).
