Swatch x Audemars Piguet Royal Pop goes on sale – here’s how to buy one

The watch world’s most talked-about collaboration is finally here. Swatch and Audemars Piguet have joined forces to create the Royal Pop, a playful, accessible riff on one of horology’s most iconic silhouettes – the Royal Oak.

Housed in Swatch‘s signature Bioceramic material, the Royal Pop takes the Royal Oak’s legendary octagonal bezel and translates it into a bold, colourful pocket watch.

Doors open today (Saturday 16th May) – here’s everything you need to know before you go.

Royal Pop price

The Swatch x Audemars Piguet Royal Pop is priced at US$400 / £335 for the Lépine-style pieces and US$420 / £350 for the two Savonnette-style pieces.

Is the Royal Pop available online?

No. Like every major Swatch collaboration before it, the Royal Pop will not be available to purchase online. Swatch has consistently kept its high-profile drops exclusively in-store, and the Royal Pop is no exception.

The only way to get one is to walk through the door of a participating store in person.

This is a deliberate strategy that keeps the experience physical and communal (even if it does mean an early morning).

Will there be queues?

Almost certainly – and if you’re heading to a major city like London or New York, plan for a long one.

Reports are already coming in of people camped outside stores ahead of tomorrow’s opening, mirroring the scenes that greeted the MoonSwatch in 2022. That launch saw queues stretching around the block well before stores opened, and chaos once doors opened (hopefully Swatch employees are little more prepared this time around).

The advice is simple: get there early. Very early.

One important note on price: if you miss out on launch day, you’ll almost certainly find Royal Pops appearing on the secondary market at inflated prices within hours. Resist the temptation. Based on the precedent set by the MoonSwatch, resale premiums tend to collapse within weeks as stock normalises in stores.

The Royal Pop is not a limited edition – and patience will be rewarded with a retail price purchase soon enough.
