The Osmo Action 4 – and key extras – can be yours, for less

After the best action camera? We’ve spotted a DJI deal on Amazon that might be up your street – the DJI Osmo Action 4 Essential Combo is now down to $199 on Amazon, from $289.

While it’s not the latest model in the range (there’s a newer DJI Osmo Action 5), this is still a cracking deal worth considering.

For a start, the Essential Combo includes the Action 4, a battery, a quick-release adapter mount, and the accessories you actually need to get started, so there’s no immediate extra spend required just to mount it or switch shooting angles.

The camera itself remains one of the strongest GoPro alternatives around. Its 1/1.3in sensor is the standout feature, delivering excellent low-light performance. In our review, it captured more detail and contrast in darker scenes than most rival action cams.

It’s just as capable in brighter conditions, too. You can shoot 4K video at up to 120fps with a wide 155-degree field of view, making it ideal for fast-moving action or wide, immersive shots. There’s also 10-bit colour and D-Log M support if you want more control when editing footage later.

Stabilisation is another big win. DJI’s RockSteady and HorizonSteady modes keep footage smooth and level, even when you’re on the move. Combined with the magnetic quick-release system, it’s easy to swap angles or switch between horizontal and vertical shooting in seconds.

It’s also built for proper outdoor use. The 1770mAh battery can last up to around 150 minutes in typical use, and works in temperatures as low as -20 degrees, while the camera itself is waterproof down to 18m without needing a case.

At $199, this DJI deal makes a lot of sense. You’re getting a seriously capable action camera, along with the accessories that most people end up buying anyway. Happy shooting.
