Oppo’s next-gen Reno 8 will be coming to the UK and Europe

The latest generation of Oppo's mid-ranger is imminent - it'll launch next week alongside other devices

Oppo has announced an event next week at which it will launch a new mid-range phone, the Reno 8. Crucially though, the company has also said that the Reno 8 will be available in the UK and Europe – not all Reno devices have. The Reno series was announced three years ago.

The launch event is taking place in Paris and will be streamed live on YouTube on 31 August from 13.30BST (14.30CET) – although slightly bizarrely at the same time as Europe’s biggest tech show, IFA in Berlin. Oppo also launched the original Find X flagship phone in Paris in 2018. Check out our Oppo Find X review. The Find X5 Pro, the latest in the series, was announced earlier this year and we were thoroughly impressed by that handset.

We know the new phone will have Oppo’s first self-developed imaging neural processor, called MariSilicon X and Oppo says the low light capabilities of the device are impressive. As ever, the proof will be in the pudding when it comes to our review. Previous generations of the Find X series have come based around Qualcomm Snapdragon hardware and while the original Reno phones were, the last few have had MediaTek hardware inside. This time we’re expecting it to have the MediaTek Dimensity 1300, first announced back in March.

We may also get a peek at the upcoming Oppo Watch at this event – we know that it will be launched soon with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon W5 hardware. We do know that we’ll also get an Oppo tablet at the event, called Oppo Pad Air – not exactly an original name.
