Stuff says 5 Hot Buy

Not the cheapest, but we reckon the big screen, software and slickness are well worth the outlay

TomTom’s Go Live 1005 calculates its routes double-quick, taking into account the time of travel, using the most accurate traffic info and laying it all out on the clearest, newest, most smoothly animated mapping. There’s even multi-touch zooming on its big, bright, 5in screen and Google Local Search for, well, searching for stuff nearby.

The old Tomtom devices were so much better i.e Go 740. They had so much more functionality such as itinerary planning etc. These were removed from the newer models including their flagship model. But dont worry, you can use it to google etc.

Next, what the reviewer forgot to mention, is TomTom's woeful customer service. My own personal experience and that of many others who have used tomtom devices (see tomtom forum) is their support & software is shocking. Don't be suprised if your device fails after an update, it regularly does.

Just 1 important point to mention: Tomtom have now outsourced their customer service to India. Enjoy hours of frustration!

I bought the Go Live 825 Europe. Much cheaper and the only difference in spec was no text to speach! Apart from that the 825 is exactly the same and for more than £50 saving depending where you get it. Surprised it's not on this list?
