Poll – are you excited about smartphone voice control?

13 Oct 2011

Apple's 'Siri' personal assistant certainly isn't the first time we've seen voice control on a mobile device – see Google Voice Search on Android – but its sophistication and sense of humour make it a charming glimpse of the future of tech interfaces. It'll even do an impression of HAL 9000, if you ask nicely.

But does the idea of having KITT in your pocket excite you? Or do you think humans talking to inanimate objects is proof that humanity is unforgivably lazy and imminently doomed? Vote and leave your comments in the box below and you could appear in the December issue of Stuff, on shelves on 2nd November.

I can't wait to use Siri on release day, although I would put money on never using it again after the first weekend.

I just can't imagine people walking around talking to their phones, in busy or loud areas especially it must be easier just to push a few buttons and do it by hand rather than have Siri try and out it out. I say it will get 10 times more use when being showed off in pubs rather than put to good use.
