MWC 2012 – Samsung drops the Galaxy S WiFi 4.2 bomb

Samsung has officially announced its successor to the 5in Samsung Galaxy WiFi released in October – the Galaxy S WiFi 4.2.
The portable media player understandably doesn’t match up to the company’s headline smartphones and tablets on the spec front – with a 1GHz processor, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS and 2MP camera (VGA front) – but it should provide a diverting alternative to Apple’s iPod Touch for app rebels without a mobile contract cause.
And those apps won’t be wanting for sensory attention – the Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 4.2 comes packing a gyroscope, accelerometer and digital compass, plus access to Samsung Hubs, Samsung Apps and, of course, the Android Market at large.
Sammy’s new PMP is just a drop in the Mobile World Congress ocean, though. Keep your eyes peeled for more breaking news from Barcelona as it happens on our MWC 2012 news page.
