Xbox 720 set to arrive in 2013 with Radeon 6000 graphics

According to reports on IGN, the next-gen Xbox 720 will land on a shelf near you come late October or early November in 2013, complete with a GPU based on AMD's Radeon's 6000 series, introduced last year. More specifically, it is thought the graphics will be similar to the Radeon HD 6670, which supports DirectX 11, 1080p HD, multi-display output and 3D.

Of course, this is all just hearsay at the moment, but if these specs are indeed correct, we can look forward to a six times performance increase over the Xbox 360. This will also mean 20 percent more power than the forthcoming Nintendo Wii U, also powered by the R770 chip, and boasts more power than the GPUs residing in both the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Xbox 720 rumours have been doing the web rounds for a while now, so alongside supercharged graphics, we're expecting some form of Kinect integration, DVR functionality and a sneak peek at E3 in June.

Only time will tell what the Xbox 720 has in store for us. Sure sounds exciting, though.

And the adverts will have six times more bull. Let's be honest, it could be a bazillion times more powerful, but if all the games are rubbish who cares? Don't get me wrong, I love my 360 and would choose it over the PS3 any day, but the games are where it's really at, not that the 360 struggles there either. Also, 720? Really? That's about as original as a new Ben Stiller movie.

Obviously 720 is the unofficial name for it since nobody knows the official name yet.
