Sony Xperia Tablet Z specs leak

Sony Xperia Tablet S

Sony's on a roll – its Xperia Z smartphone netted a CES 2013 Hot Stuff Award and its Xperia Tablet S (pictured) is sitting pretty in Stuff's Top 10 Tablets. Now it looks like Sony's set to add an Xperia Tablet Z to its line-up, with a rumoured spec list leaking online.

The Xperia Tablet Z is – according to the Xperia Info Twitter account – set to arrive with a 10.1in, 1080p screen, a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor and 2GB of RAM to keep things ticking over. It'll also come packing 32GB of internal storage, a 6,000mah battery and 8.1MP and 2.2MP cameras. Naturally it'll arrive running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, too.

Connectivity options for the tablet – codenamed "Pollux" – will reportedly include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0, along with LTE capabilities.

Design-wise, the Xperia Tablet Z is set to take cues from the Sony Xperia Z – no surprises there, but we hope it keeps the "folded-page" design from the Xperia Tablet S, which makes reading magazines and books such a pleasure. Particularly since it's set to be waterproof and dustproof – finally, you can use your tablet in the bath. If you like living dangerously.

Expect the Sony Xperia Tablet Z to arrive in the latter half of 2013.

    First again! Bored now.

What happened to Sony? Used to be the trend setters. Now they are just another sheep in the flock.

Fair enough, waterproof is a nice touch. Although the quality of the "plugs" for the external connections will be interesting to see.

Still think Sony could do more to innovate though. They are not the first to produce a waterproof tablet (Pantech, Toshiba, Fujitsu) and many others are imminent.
