Asus’ Windows 8 tablets may be out in 2012

Ice Cream Sandwich and iOS aren't the items on the tablet menu next year…

The same leaked information that suggested a November 9th release for the Asus Transformer Prime also looks to have spilled the beans on two of Asus’ ARM – possibly Tegra 3 – powered Windows 8 tablets, which now look set to drop in the third quarter of 2012.

ZDNet‘s source claims that Asus is one of Windows 8’s ‘first access’ partners, meaning we don’t expect to see any Windows 8 tablets on the shelves – from any company – in the first half of next year.

It looks like Apple and Google have a bit more time to prepare their defences against Microsoft’s oncoming Tablet OS onslaught. Let the games begin…
