Samsung Notebook Series 5 550P with Ivy Bridge i7 announced

Face it, since Intel launched its new thread of Core i7 processors – with vaunted Ivy Bridge microarchitecture – you’ve taken a dim view of laptops rocking anything else. Samsung sees your need for the latest chippery with the Notebook Series 5 550P and raises you a Blu-ray drive, 15in and 17in models and JBL audio (with subwoofer).
Samsung’s also crowing (deservedly) about its laptops’ fine looks, and that continues through to the Notebook Series 5 550P’s LED screen, which Sammy describes as “an incredibly rich, vivid and crisp visual experience.”
Saddling up next to the 550P’s Core i7 processor is Nvidia’s GeForce GT 650M 2GB dedicated graphics, 8GB RAM and up to 2TB of hard drive space.
Prices will obviously vary according to spec, but Currys lists the 17in version with 1TB hard drive for £900, available now.

Hey Stuff,
It annoys me that most laptops on sale still have ancient low-spec $20 LCD screens!
I notice this one is LED, but have they bothered to join the 21st century yet and provide more than 900 lines of resolution?
Here's hoping you can share that gem! (Unlike currys and pc world staff, who just blurt "HD!" like zombies when you ask what the screen res is...)
