Intel Ivy Bridge HP laptops due in April

The third generation of Intel processors has cropped up in HP’s new Pavilion range

Finally the wait for faster Intel processors with better performance for laptop batteries is coming with Ivy Bridge, launching in April.

A leaked HP press release reveals April 8th as the pre-order day for a new range of Pavilion laptops all featuring Intel’s third generation Ivy Bridge processors. The laptops all packing Intel i7 processors, expected to ship on April 29th come in two sizes, 14in and 15.6in.

The 14in DV4-5000 will come with a 1366×768 resoltuion display, 8GB RAM and 1TB hard drive, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M graphics for good measure. The DV6-7000 is a 15.6in model with 2TB hard drive, 2.3GHz i7, and 1600×900 resolution screen. The DV7-6000 is also 15.6in but has a 2.6GHz i7.

We’re excited to see how well Ivy Bridge processors perform, both in raw power and on battery levels – but really want to see the ultrabook offerings before we get too twitchy fingered.
